How To Choose A Computer Repairman?

There are a number of things to think about when hiring a computer repairman. You need to consider their knowledge, experience, how easy they are to talk to, and ultimately how costly they are.

Computer Experience

How long have they been fixing computers for? What sort of computers and networks have they worked with before? With such a critical element of your business (or personal life) you don’t want to risk some having to learn on the job (your paying for their education).

Computer Repairs Knowledge

How much do they know about computers, particularly the ones at home or in your office. Whether they be desktops, laptops, servers, etc. This can be hard to work out before you get them to work on your computer. One way to check is to listen and note their explanation of things, then do a quick bit of research. If what you find is completely different to what they said then you have cause for concern.

Trust

Are they trustworthy. They’re going to be working on a key component of your life / work. They will have access to a number of your potentially sensitive files so you need to be able to trust that 1. They will get the job done right, 2. They won’t do anything to your files or information.

Approachable

How easy is it for you to ask them questions or discuss things with them. The more approachable they are the better information and assistance that you’ll be able to get. This is really important especially if you call them with a problem you can‘t work out. Quite often the problem can be solved over the phone without them even needing to visit you.

Cost Effective

There are a number of computer repairers that don’t have a call out fee. So you don’t get charged just for them coming out (regardless of whether they could help you or not).

Summary

Not all problems can be solved by a repairman. If your having problems with your internet it may not be your hardware but a problem with the provider. When it comes to a problem with your computer, always call the experts first and discuss the problem before they come out. Experts should be able to quickly ascertain whether they are required to be onsite.
