How to Find the Right Central Coast Web Designer for Your Business

There’s no shortage of web designers and web developers on the Central Coast so if you need a website for your business it should be easy – right?

Unfortunately, even with so much choice (or especially with so much choice!) it can be very difficult to know how to choose the right web designer for your business.

Before it is created a website is a very intangible thing and prices can vary from under $500 up to a few thousand for a basic website so it’s helpful to have some guidelines to help you choose the right web designer for your needs.

Here are three important things you should consider before you hire a web designer to build your website.

1/  Location

With email and the internet it’s tempting to think that you could hire a web designer from anywhere in the country and be just as well off as if you hire a local web designer on the central coast.  This isn’t necessarily true…

While the internet and email have definitely made it easier to do business remotely there are still some big advantages to dealing with a local web design company.

If you can physically meet with your web designer before they start work you’ll have a great opportunity to fully discuss ideas and your specific needs.  At this crucial early stage sketches on paper can be a great way to convey ideas and concepts and you just can’t do that effectively either on the internet or by phone.

A local web designer will also have other local contacts and be familiar with the local business and economic environment.  This means they can be of more help to you when it comes to the online marketing side of your internet presence for your business.

So, apart from the benefit of supporting local business – if you and your business are on the Central Coast it makes good business sense to choose a Central Coast web designer.

2/  Portfolio

Any web designer will have a portfolio of websites they’ve made for other clients that they can show you.  Make sure you take a look at the actual websites online instead of just looking at printed out pictures of what the websites look like.

The internet is an interactive medium so it’s important to get a feel for the functionality and features of the websites.

Ease of use is going to be very important for your customers.  Can they find the information they need (including contact information) quickly and easily?  Is the navigation logical and easily found?

Make sure you take a good look at the portfolio of any web designer you’re considering hiring.  This will be the best indication of what your website may be like if you go with that designer.

3/  “The Full Package”

There are three main components to an effective website for a business and while we’ll leave the details of these for another article we’ll cover them briefly here.

There are web designers that excel at design and can make beautiful looking websites, there are web designers that can make highly complex websites that have amazing and there are web designers who can create a website that ranks high in the search engines and is easily found.

The best web designers are the ones that can do all three.  Find a web designer who can deliver the full package – an attractive looking site with excellent functionality that is going to rank high in search results and get lots of visitors.

So, in summary, the three things to bear in mind when choosing your web designer are:

Go for a Central Coast web designer if that’s where your business is.  You’ll find that makes the whole process easier.

Remember to look over the designer’s portfolio thoroughly online before making your decision.

And last, but not least, try to find a designer who can deliver the full package and make you a website that lets your customers find you easily, gives them exactly what they need and looks good too.

Do these three things and getting your website built should be a smooth process that delivers a website that will be an asset to your business.
